HUTH is a regional teaching NHS trust and now partnered with our neighbours under the NHS Humber Health Partnership, providing a wide range of tertiary services to our patients.
You’ll be working with an expert team of SLTs providing services to acute surgical caseload and working with patients on the Complex Rehabilitation Unit. You will primarily be based on the Castle Hill Hospital site, set in the backdrop of the East Riding of Yorkshire countryside.

To work within the Speech & Language Therapy Team to provide an efficient and effective service in line with the guidance of the Clinical Lead Speech & Language Therapist for Acute Surgical/ Complex Rehab , the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

To manage own caseload of inpatients with an acquired swallowing and/or communication disorder in acute surgical specialties and rehabilitation.
Work as an integral member of trust multi-disciplinary teams as applicable, for example attending case conferences. Regular liaison with a range of disciplines across the acute surgical and rehabilitation services regarding patient care e.g. discussion with consultants or senior nursing staff.
Independently provide observational and direct clinical placements for Speech & Language Therapy students when requested.
Supervise new graduate Speech & Language Therapists, assistants and volunteers as appropriate.
To demonstrate a sound knowledge of clinical governance and be able to appropriately deal with complaints as needed.
Support the provision of training to other health care professionals, patients and carers.
Identify personal training needs, undertake regular CPD and participate in annual appraisals and practice supervision
