Description:

Band 6 Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist: Inpatient stroke and acute Services
Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP) 0.93wte
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the adult inpatient Speech & Language Therapy team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT). We are looking for an enthusiastic, autonomous and highly motivated Band 6 Speech and language Therapist with a passion for working with patients who present with swallowing and communication difficulties. The post will be based on the acute stroke and rehabilitation ward and on the general medical and surgical wards at Leighton Hospital.
You will work alongside friendly and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy colleagues, including clinical speciality leads, an assistant, and administrative support. You will be a key member of the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT) based on the hospital wards. There will be opportunities to contribute to ongoing service developments and to support local audits.
Continued Professional Development is actively encouraged and supported through a variety of training methods including formal supervision and documented competencies alongside informal peer mentoring.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the assessment and management of a shared dysphagia and acquired communication caseload, as an autonomous practitioner. They will have experience in managing complex presentations and conditions, and therefore post graduate dysphagia training is desirable.
They will be able to work collaboratively with the relevant MDTs to deliver goal focused, person centred, integrated therapy to individuals and their relatives.
The individual will benefit from access to clinical supervision, peer supervision and regular in-service training. It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic, supportive and ‘CPD active’ SLT team.
Exciting service developments include the use of sEMG and MBSImP. The service also runs weekly videofluoroscopy clinics and outpatient FEES clinic. The stroke team are participating in the PhEAST research trial.

At Mid Cheshire, our mission is to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.
To work as an autonomous practitioner and provide a high standard specialist Speech and Language therapy assessment, with the use of analytical and clinical reasoning skills to identify patient problems, ensuring the provision of an effective and specialist treatment plan.
To collaborate closely with the patient and members of the multidisciplinary and multi-agency team to ensure the appropriate setting of individualised treatment goals and therefore best possible outcomes for patients within the Acute service.
To continuously contribute to service development and innovation, whilst providing clinical leadership and support to delegated staff
