Description:
Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (0.8 WTE)
Westminster, and Kensington and Chelsea Education Team
Due to an expansion in the current education provisions in the local area, we have the new and exciting opportunity for a band 6 SLT to join our SLT education service. The role will involve supporting children and young people within specialist educational settings in the boroughs of Westminster, and Kensington and Chelsea.

- Work within innovative, motivated and well-established teams, in a supportive and progressive environment
- Deliver specialist interventions to a varied caseload of children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans
- Work jointly with parents, the class teams and other professionals to develop a shared understanding of each CYP’s speech, language and communication needs and how these can be supported
- Help schools embed good universal and targeted level practice within their settings
- Refine your skills in delivering a range of interventions (including AAC)
- Develop your supervision skills and skills in training others.
- Access 1:1 & peer group supervision sessions and a regular in-house training programme
Providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention to children and young people with complex communication needs and dysphagia (eating, drinking and swallowing disorders) needs as relevant to the role. This will include supporting parents, school staff and other professionals in all issues related to client management. Liaison with the MDT is an integral part of the role
Providing advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties
Being accountable for own professional actions and recognising own professional boundaries, seeking advice from senior colleagues as appropriate
Providing some day-to-day supervision and peer review support to less experienced colleagues and students, including second opinions when necessary.
Running appropriate in service training independently for school and other staff
