Description:
Responsibilities:
We are looking for Category Specialist – MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) who will support several business units in the Atlantic region in Rio Tinto. The purpose of this role will be to provide support to the MRO procurement team on development of category strategy which contribute to the delivery of commercially favourable contracts and deliver optimal value to Rio Tinto Business Units.
Reporting to Senior Category Specialist, and working in a collaborative team, you will:
- Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive regional category management strategy and the development of agreements to minimize total cost and maximize value that will drive competitive advantage.
- Undertake rigorous fact-based development that will form the basis of ensuring we are realizing value in the portfolio.
- Actively participate in projects related to process improvement, reducing waste and simplifying the way we source materials across our business in line with our Global Procurement Strategy. Successfully build open and trusting relationships, working in a collaborative environment with internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish a robust supplier relationship management structure to strengthen partnership and value creation for both Rio Tinto and our supply partners.
What you’ll bring
- Hold a bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a procurement and supply chain or similar environment.
- Strong team player mindset with the desire to positively contribute to an engaged and inclusive culture.
- Category management experience with a strong understanding of processes, practices and systems. Materials procurement experience is desirable (industrial consumables, electrical consumables, PPE).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively influence others.
- Advanced level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint)
- Ability to apply critical and analytical thinking and drive innovative ideas to fruition
- Demonstrate ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and be a self-starter
- Effective time management skills and the ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.
- Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company, and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.
