We are looking for a Procurement Specialist – Technology Solutions who will be responsible for executing technology category strategies, sourcing and contract implementation globally across Rio Tinto.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology procurement professional. You will enjoy working as part of the Global Technology Procurement team, collaborating with a range of stakeholders to influence and manage a broad portfolio of work. You have a passion for process improvement and transformation and can speak the language of today’s technology landscape. Reporting to the Principal Advisor – Technology Procurement, you will:

  • Help develop and execute technology category strategies in major technology investment sectors for software, technology solutions and applications
  • Research and update knowledge of relevant categories and sub-categories to identify opportunities for improvement within the category based on industry and market research, organizational priorities, supply chain risk and commercial opportunities.
  • Support the development of stakeholder engagement plans to help formalize effective and collaborative relationships with a broad and varied group of global business units including IS&T (Information Services and Technology;
  • Provide commercial leadership and guidance to the relevant stakeholder teams;
  • Build and grow relationships with key suppliers to drive innovation and value through a formal Supplier Relationship Management process;
  • Work with complex data sets and the data warehouse team to perform comprehensive data analysis, commercial modelling and produce meaning category and business insights.
  • Work closely with sourcing specialists, legal, finance and other business partners to support an efficient end to end source to contract experience for all stakeholders.
  • Support or lead (depending on the requirement) negotiation strategies and communication plans for supplier negotiations and meetings.
  • Pro-actively work on initiatives to help contain contract-spend leakage and deliver contractual performance outcomes as required.
  • Provide issue resolution for supplier service and quality issues.
  • Work effectively in a global team that may require evening or morning calls.

Responsibilities:

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Significant prior experience in Technology Procurement and category management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or related field or a combination of experience and education
  • Proven record of leading to drive successful commercial outcomes
  • Ability to formulate and present the analysis and business cases to support complex category and sub-category strategies
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with end-to-end procurement processes, including category driven buying channels
  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated experience leading complex contract negotiations
  • Experience in managing large international projects with the ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively and productively to support a strong team environment with an expected high degree of individual autonomy (and accountability)
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in using SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebe
