We are seeking an Environment, Health, Safety, and Quality Specialist to support the operations of our Varennes plant in Quebec. The Varennes plant is part of the Industry and Water segment, which assists municipalities and water-intensive industries in the effective and sustainable use of resources. In the field of water treatment, we help optimize every stage of the water cycle. In North America, we have logistics operations and manufacturing sites across Canada and the United States.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving policies and procedures related to health, safety, environment, and regulatory compliance for the plant. They will ensure that company operations comply with legal and regulatory safety and environmental standards while promoting a safe and healthy workplace with sustainable practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Risk management and incident analysis skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, environment, and compliance regulations is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of Quebec’s environmental regulations, including the Environment Quality Act (LQE) and related regulations, is an asset.
- Skills in environmental risk management, including impact assessment and corrective measures, are an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in occupational health and safety, environmental management, or a related field.
- Previous professional experience in a similar role is desired.
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, NEBOSH) is an asset.
- Professional certification in environmental management (e.g., C.E.A., LEED) is an asset.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, environment, and compliance policies and procedures according to governmental regulations and Kemira standards.
- Serve as the Health, Safety, and Environment reference for employees at the Varennes site.
- Manage regulatory compliance related to Health, Safety, Environment, and Compliance with a particular focus on the manufacturing plant (bulk chemicals).
- Monitor regulatory changes to stay informed of legislative and normative developments.
- Assist with RMP (Risk Management Plan) and PSM (Process Safety Management) audit processes for the chemical manufacturing plant.
- Analyze safety reports, identify non-compliance issues, and take appropriate corrective actions with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Assist and maintain compliance management with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ensure the C-TPAT (Customs-Trades Against Terrorist) program is up to date for the plant.
- Support the administration of the Integrated Management Process.
- Act as a technical advisor for the Emergency Response Plan and be the team leader of the Varennes Kemira emergency response team.
- Support the emergency community of the Varennes industrial zone plant.
- Develop and deliver training and awareness sessions for staff on safety practices, emergency procedures, sustainable environmental practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of policies, procedures, training, and incident reports.
- Prepare internal reports on health, safety, and sustainability performance for management and stakeholders.
- Monitor safety and environmental performance indicators and prepare performance reports.
