Description:

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) invites applications for a Specialty Doctor for Peterborough Community Learning Disability Service.
The successful post holder will provide clinical leadership to Peterborough Community Learning Disability Service and Hollies Inpatient Ward at the Cavell centre. You will work closely with a part time SAS doctor who is currently working for Peterborough Learning Disability Service and will also join a wider group of supportive SAS Psychiatrists across Peterborough and the North Cambridgeshire Locality.
Depending on the interests of the post-holder there are excellent opportunities to be involved in undergraduate teaching and to develop areas of clinical interest. There are excellent links with the academic department and the potential to be involved in research. There is an excellent CPD programme and opportunities for professional development.
This appointment is attached to the Learning Disability Services in Peterborough ( 4 sessions for the Community Learning Disability Service and 2 sessions for the Inpatient service). Work timetable will be reviewed annually. There is an expectation that the Specialist Registrar and Specialty Doctors (Fenland and Peterborough) will cross cover each other. The post holder will provide medical input to patients of the specialist team under supervision from the designated Consultant Psychiatrists for the Learning Disability Services.

Peterborough Team Description
Learning disability services are part of specialist services division. In this context the post holder will be working for the Peterborough part of the specialist division.
Inpatient services comprise of 10 beds (currently 6 beds in operation) provided from Hollies ward, The Cavell Centre in Peterborough. The inpatient service works on acute assessment and treatment model with well-defined care pathways and was among the first few in the country to receive accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Learning Disability Community Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Social Care staff of Peterborough Learning Disability Service are based at Sand Martin House, in Peterborough.
Learning Disability Mental Health Services get 60-70 new referrals in a year. The most common reasons for these referrals are; challenging behaviour, mental disorders and epilepsy. We also provide specialist diagnostic assessments for Dementia in the learning disability population.

To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.
To comply with the Professional Codes of Conduct and to be aware of changes in these. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legislation and local policies and procedures implementing this.
To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest standard, and in accordance with currently quality initiatives within the work area.
To comply with all relevant Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Confidentiality of Information and to be aware of any changes in these.
To comply at all times with the Trust’s Information Governance related policies. Staff are required to respect the confidentiality of information about staff, patients and Trust business and in particular the confidentiality and security of personal identifiable information in line with the Data Protection Act. All staff are responsible for ensuring that any data created by them is timely, comprehensive, accurate, and fit for the purposes for which it is intended.
Other responsibilities
If the post holder proves to be both successful and committed at Specialty Doctor Level, there is possibility of further career development. All career grade doctors are required to maintain their education, professional development, and accreditation. Appropriate time and financial support are available for this purpose.
The post holder will occasionally need to be available for irregular commitments outside normally fostered duties, as are essential for continuity of patient care in an emergency.
The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post holder when necessary and in line with changing service needs.
The post holder will participate in an annual Appraisal process.
The post holder will attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so
