We are looking for an Associate Specialist to join a dedicated team at a specialist Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, providing high-quality treatment for individuals with acquired or traumatic brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
In this role, you will work closely with a Consultant Psychiatrist, playing a crucial part in assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure exceptional care. Responsibilities will include conducting psychiatric and external assessments, contributing to patient care plans, and maintaining effective communication with external professionals and families.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Full GMC registration
· Experience in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams
· Recent engagement with appraisal/RITA processes
· Previous experience in a similar clinical setting
· MRCPsych qualification (preferred but not essential)
Responsibilities:
· Assist the Consultant Psychiatrist in assessing and reviewing patients referred to the service.
· Deliver high-quality medical care to inpatients, ensuring their well-being and recovery progress.
· Prepare and present written/oral evidence for Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearings.
· Support safe discharge planning by preparing necessary reports and documentation.
· Participate in the on-call rota alongside other Consultant Psychiatrists.
· Ensure smooth handover processes to colleagues, including out-of-hours cover.
· Collaborate with external healthcare professionals, including GPs and community teams.
· Conduct clinical assessments and investigations, ensuring prompt follow-up on results.
· Engage in clinical governance, service improvement, research, and teaching initiatives.
· Provide staff training and contribute to ongoing learning and development.
· Take responsibility for additional duties such as ECGs and blood sampling, as required.
