Description:
Role Introduction We have an exciting opportunity to grow our team and are looking to appoint a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to work within a variety of pathways within the service. These include working as part of the mainstream offer in schools and community clinics and Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres across Leeds. You will be working across the city supporting children, young people and their families as well as school staff. You will provide interventions, ongoing support, coaching and modelling sessions for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCN). You will work within a team comprising of other Speech and Language Therapy Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and Technical Instructors.
We are a hardworking, forward thinking and supportive service dedicated to providing the best possible care to the children of Leeds with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Our team consists of Speech and Language therapists and Speech and Language therapy assistants working alongside each other in a variety of settings and specialisms. These include mainstream settings, clinics, and areas of specialism such as ICAN (Integrated Children’s Additional Needs Service) Hubs, School Age learning disabilities, Deaf and Hearing impairment, stammering etc. We have further information on our website about our services, training packages, resources and activities - www.leedscommunityhealthcare.nhs.uk/cslt
This is a full time position (37.5 hours) and a car driver is essential.

- You will have proven experience of working with children with a wide range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
- You will have a qualification linked with child care and preferably have attended Speech and Language training or experience.
- You will be expected to have excellent communication skills in order to work and liaise with others such as parents/carers, education-based staff and other professional colleagues.
- You will be reliable, friendly and approachable
- You will be someone who works well within a team but who also works autonomously and independently
- You will be able to work flexibly according to the needs of the children, families, young people and service.
