Description:

ONE KIDS PLACE – Children’s Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.
POSITION: Speech Language Pathologist (12 month contract)
LOCATION: Timiskaming District (base office can be either New Liskeard or Kirkland Lake)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current registration with the College of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology of Ontario
  • 2 years related work experience within a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs an asset
  • Experience working in Augmentative and Alternative Communication is an asset
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Nipissing, Muskoka, Parry Sound and Timiskaming
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills/Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of assessments, documentation, programming and communication.
  • Good attendance/Work Record
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred/ADP authorizer is an asset
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector

    COMPENSATION: $38.77 - $48.62 hourly (depending on prior experience as per our Collective Agreement).

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Maîtrise en orthophonie
  • Inscription en règle auprès de l’Ordre des audiologistes et des orthophonistes de l’Ontario
  • Deux ans d’expérience de travail pertinente dans un milieu pédiatrique ou de soins de santé, avec des enfants et des jeunes ayant des besoins spéciaux, un atout
  • Expérience de travail en communication augmentative et alternative est un atout
  • Connaissance pratique des ressources et des soutiens communautaires dans les districts de Nipissing, Muskoka, Parry Sound et Timiskaming,
  • Excellentes compétences de relations interpersonnelles, d’organisation et de communication verbale et écrite
  • Permis de conduire de l’Ontario en vigueur et véhicule fiable
  • Maîtrise de l’utilisation de logiciels et capacité de s’adapter pour effectuer des évaluations, préparer des documents, effectuer de la programmation et communiquer
  • Bons antécédents professionnels et assiduité au travail
  • Bilingue en anglais et en français est préféré /le statut d’autorisateur du PAAF est un atout

    RÉMUNÉRATION : 38,77 $ - 48,62 $ par heure (selon l’expérience antérieure selon notre convention collective).

Responsibilities:

  • Provides quality family-centered care through assessment, establishing a clinical diagnosis and treatment programs to assist children/youth in achieving their maximal functional ability in the areas of communication, cognition and swallowing.
  • Documents client-related activities and workload practices according to Children’s Treatment Centre and College standards.
  • Utilizes therapeutic techniques / modalities as necessary in the provision of therapy and maintains client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Communicates effectively and ensures continuity of care by making treatment decisions in close collaboration with the children/youth/family, other rehabilitation staff and other community service providers as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Educates the child/youth, family and other caregivers in the condition/disease process and specific treatment/intervention suggestions to ensure appropriate follow-through of daily activities and programs. The focus may be prevention, maintenance and/or treatment for the client and family.
  • Provides clinical supervision within the discipline’s scope of practice to designated support personnel and/or placement students.
  • Provides equipment recommendations/prescriptions and/or refers children/youth to appropriate services.
  • Acts as a resource/educator for the children/youth, families, staff, students, professionals and communities through the facilitation, development and implementation of education programs.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new staff members, placement students and/or volunteers.
  • Pursues on-going professional development and growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
