Job Description:
The Allied Health Services (AHS) team, under Professional Practice consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapy, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care.
The team has a Professional Practice Leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.
We are currently seeking a Temporary part time (0.7FTE) Speech Language Pathologist supporting our acute adult inpatient units. The successful candidate will provide Speech Language services as part of an interdisciplinary care team on our acute inpatient medical, surgical unit and rehabilitative units/outpatient clinics.

As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:

  • Master’s Degree Specific to Communication Sciences and Disorders Speech- Language Pathology or equivalent. Mandatory
  • Current registration with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Mandatory
  • MBS Imp © certification or willingness to complete within 3 months of hiring.
  • Evidence of continuing education in acute care Speech Language Pathology practices
  • Recent experience with a varied clinical practice in acute care (medical and surgical) and rehabilitative care areas
  • Inpatient experience preferred
  • A strong ability to identify, assess, evaluate, treat, and manage communication impairments and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent education skills related to managing dysphagia and communication impairments.
