About the role
The purpose of this role is to deliver contemporary speech pathology clinical services to the patients of Redcliffe Hospital. This position will primarily provide inpatient speech pathology services in the clinical areas of adult speech, language and swallowing, in the acute and sub-acute setting. The position may also be required to provide speech pathology services in the clinical areas of paediatric speech, language and feeding, if the successful applicant has the appropriate skills.
About you

This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health’s values:

  • Deliver contemporary Speech Pathology clinical services within a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with prescribed ethical, professional and work unit standards, under the professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
  • Apply professional clinical judgement in providing clinical services in a routine hospital-based caseload. As experience builds, independent management of an increasingly complex caseload, and the ability to adapt routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence is expected.
  • Contribute to effective team dynamics as well as client and stakeholder relationships utilising well developed communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and act as a patient advocate.
  • Support the operation of the speech pathology clinical service by performing the required administrative duties, including recording accurate activity data.
  • Proportionate to the level of experience, assist in the development and/or review of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the work area, using the principles of evidence-based practice.
