Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA Youth Sports and our day camp programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Preferred three years’ experience in Child development, Camp setting, staff hiring, development, and supervision.
  • General understanding of sports programming, including league management.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to monitor revenue and expenses.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of the Camp and Sports departments/programs; ensuring growth, volume, safety, and innovation.
  • Oversees, directs, and coordinates the day camp program, ensuring high-quality activities and introducing new programs. Expands the program within the community in alignment with strategic and operational plans.
  • Manages all aspects of the youth sports program, including training and orienting coaches and referees, and scheduling sports programs.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors budgets for the position. Ensures the program remains within budget and that program fees are collected.
  • Responsible for the development and control of the department budget. Ensures that all assigned budget departments meet year-end outcomes.
  • Oversees marketing, registration, communication, and operation of on-site and off-site facilities.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including ADA accommodations where applicable. Maintains adherence to YMCA program standards and safety protocols.
  • Ensures that all YMCA policies & procedures, state licensing, ACA requirements, and health department requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • Monitors operations and ensures all licensing requirements are met.
  • Oversees the maintenance of program facilities and equipment, ensuring a healthy and supportive physical environment.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises staff and volunteers as needed. Assesses staff performance and creates strategies to motivate the team and meet objectives.
  • Recruits, trains, supervises, and appraises required staff and assists all staff in meeting their developmental needs.
  • Responsible for fostering an environment where staff motivation, recognition, and teamwork thrive.
  • Conducts bi-annual performance evaluations of staff.
  • Builds a network of program volunteers through effective recruitment, training, and engagement.
  • Leads and supports annual fundraising campaigns and committees as assigned. Serves as staff liaison in the Teams Division of the Annual Current Support Campaign and assists in the recruitment of campaigners to ensure the Teams Division is filled and trained.
  • Assists with marketing and distributing program information.
  • Gathers program statistics and evaluates program effectiveness and participation.
  • Directs and supervises program activities to align with YMCA objectives and expands youth programming in line with strategic and operational plans.
  • Creates and distributes team practice and game schedules, as well as sports rules, guidelines, and handbooks.
  • Coordinates and participates in special events and activities aimed at membership growth and retention, enhancing member experience and volunteer opportunities.
  • Implements regular site visits for observation and evaluation.
  • Represents the Branch as needed in the community through various groups, organizations, coalitions, etc.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
