Life Saving Victoria is Victoria’s peak water safety and lifesaving organisation built on the proud traditions and programs of our founding organisations, the Royal Life Saving Society – Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia.
Lifesaving has been an integral part of the Victorian way of life since 1904. Today LSV is a multifaceted volunteer-based community organisation with a focus on public safety and community wellbeing.
Our volunteers, members, employees and partners work together with communities, educational institutions, government agencies, businesses and the broader aquatic industry, to Save lives and empower communities to safely enjoy water.
LSV Sports teamwork with our volunteers to deliver unique opportunities for life saving members to test their lifesaving skills across the state in a variety of locations and settings.
Sport plays a vital role in keeping LSV club members rescue-ready and helps build their lifesaving skills and pathways, especially for our juniors. LSV delivers 20+ carnivals with up to 900 competitors at our marquee carnivals, featuring a variety of events including Beach (flags, sprints, and distance runs), Surf (swim, board, ski, and iron races), Rescue and Resuscitation (R&R), Lifesaving Events (patrol competition, champion lifesaver, and first aid competition), Surfboat Racing, IRB Competitions, and Pool Competitions.
The team also provides development opportunities for officials, coaches, team managers, and athletes, enabling all members to enjoy the benefits of lifesaving sport.
We’re looking for a Sport Events Coordinator to join our Member Engagement team on a 12-month fixed term full-time basis. Located at our Port Melbourne Head Office and reporting into the Senior Manager – Sport this dynamic full-time role will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Coordinate and support the delivery of seasonal event logistics, including registration, awards processing, competitions, and results, ensuring accurate information and communication with stakeholders.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and post-event reviews for LSV Sport seasonal events (Summer Lifesaving, Pool Lifesaving, IRB, and major winter events).
- Assist in the creation of communication plans, including producing handbooks, guidelines, and promotional materials, inclusion social media content for Sport events and participants.
- Support with event planning and development, including logistics, business plans, marketing, communications, risk management, and assist with grants, and sponsorships.
- Support volunteers in Sport roles, including competition and development committees, and provide administrative support to the Aquatic Sport Executive and Council.
- Provide data, reports, and support for proposals, financial reporting, and grants/sponsorship acquittals.
You are a people person, with a proactive approach, with a passion and experience in event delivery and project coordination. You excel in a fast-paced and changing environment. Your skills include relationship building, outstanding customer service skills, great problem-solving, and working within deadlines and budgets.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Business Administration, Sports Administration/Management or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years’ experience supporting the administrative and operational delivery of events with limited supervision in a multi-tasking environment.
- Strong operational coordination skills, with experience in relationship building skills, customer service (including handling complaints), and working within deadlines and budgets.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly in mail merge, document design, and web forms, with high-level data processing skills.
- Understanding of social media and website technology.
- Flexible with working hours and locations, including weekends, after hours and regional travel.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check and Australian Driver’s License.
- Previous experience in a volunteer, member, or community-focused organisation with an event delivery focus.
- Knowledge or experience in water safety, lifesaving/lifesaving sport, Life Saving Victoria, Surf Life Saving Australia and Royal Life Saving Society Australia.
