Reporting Relationship Director of Care – Day Services
Job Purpose The Sports Centre Manager is responsible for the oversight and
development of Sports Centre and Adapted Physical Activity Centre as
a social enterprise. The post holder is expected to ensure effective and
efficient support services and to implement the strategic plan to foster
reform across the organisation.
The Sports Centre Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe,
high-quality, and well-coordinated service that adds considerable
value to the organisation.
Scope of the Role The Sports Centre Manager is responsible fully for all governance and
management matters within areas of their responsibility. The post
holder will be answerable for quality, safety and practice matters
within their area and will be required to update the Director of Care
– Day Services on matters arising from their areas.
Key Duties and Leadership
Responsibilities • Define, develop and implement the strategic vision and
direction for the Sports Centre and Adapted Physical Activity
Centre ensuring they are aligned to the organisational
strategic plan
- Take a lead role in implementing a sports centre strategy for
service user / customer experience
- Provide advice and support to the Executive Management
Team, as requested, on matters related to their areas of
responsibility.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with
members of the EMT, Programme Managers and relevant
personnel through the service
- Promote a performance management culture throughout the
Sports Centre and Adapted Physical Activity Centre and be
accountable for implementing strategic decisions for these
functions.
- Promote innovation in service delivery throughout areas of
responsibility, in the context of future planning for the
service
Quality, Safety and Governance
- Implement rigorous safety protocols, ensuring all activities
are conducted in a safe environment. This includes staff
training, regular safety audits, and emergency preparedness,
significantly reducing the risks of accidents such as drowning
or injuries.

- Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures
according to the organisational objectives
- Responsible for the day-to-day planning and monitoring of
Sports Centre and Adapted Physical Activity Centre.
- Lead on key quality and safety issues and ensure high
standards of corporate governance.
- Develop and oversee personalised programs that meet the
therapeutic and recreational needs of service users, ensuring
that activities contribute positively to their physical and
mental well-being.
- Ensure appropriate systems are in place for measuring
quality of outcomes and the effective use of resources.
- Be accountable for and delegate operational responsibility
for the effective management of health and safety systems
and practices.
Financial and Resource
- Oversee budgeting and resource allocation, ensuring that the
Sports Centre operates within budget while maximizing the
value of its resources.
- Implement appropriate systems to ensure accountability is
appropriately disseminated throughout the service.
- Ensure appropriate and efficient resource deployment within
your areas of responsibility.
- Participate in the recruitment process as requested by the
HR Department
Management
- Ensure appropriate management practices are applied and
performance management strategies, as outlined by the HR
Department, are implemented
- Ensure all staff within areas of accountability, meet the
requirements outlined by the L&D department for core
competency training and best practice training.
- Participate and lead any appropriate committee, on request
by your line manager or the CEO.
- Creation and development of polices as required/ requested.
