Based in London and reporting into the Director of Business Intelligence. We are seeking a SQL Database Engineer with a passion for learning and problem-solving. You will be part of a team who will be responsible for rapidly building out a full scale enterprise level Datawarehouse / lake, aligned with our data-driven roadmap strategy. The candidate will have hands-on experience in managing structured and unstructured databases, including MS SQL Server, Google BigQuery or similar products. This role will require you to work closely with various teams, manage data warehouses, and integrate data solutions that drive business insights. You will be empowered to experiment and learn as you grow in your role.
Job Description
- Design, implement, and maintain efficient database systems using MS SQL Server, Google BigQuery, or other structured/unstructured database solutions.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for reporting and data integration.
- Manage data warehouses, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement APIs to interface with databases and other applications.
- Perform data migration, transformation, and normalization between systems.
- Continuously identify areas for database performance improvement and proactively address bottlenecks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Keep up with industry trends and best practices to enhance data management strategies.
- Actively participate in team discussions, contributing ideas and learning from mistakes to improve systems.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience as a SQL Database Engineer or similar role.
- Database Expertise: Proficiency in MS SQL Server and Google BigQuery or similar databases (both structured and unstructured data).
- Experience with other database platforms such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or NoSQL.
- Strong Familiarity with ETL processes, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
- API Knowledge: Experience with APIs and integration into database systems is a must.
- Data Warehousing: Strong experience in managing and maintaining data
- Knowledge of data security and compliance regulations.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning and database optimization.
