Who we need:
Reporting to the Director, IT Architecture, the SQL & Reporting Developer is responsible to build new SQL query, stored procedures and functions to support business requirements using SSRS, PowerBI and/or Tableau. Responsible for auditing and approving any externally developed code or integrations prior to implementation; primary expert with decision-making responsibility on all developed code and systems as well as code repository use and functionality.
This is a 7 month maternity leave contract.
What you will do:
- Build new SQL query, stored procedures and functions to support business requirements
- Develop new report objects to support both one-time and ongoing business requirements suing SSRS, PowerBI and/or Tableau
- Enable automated report generation and distribution for critical reporting objects
- Conduct a high-level audit of all existing custom reports in key platforms, including Anthology Student, Moodle, WordPress and FreshService systems
- Provide recommendations for improving existing custom reports, query, stored procedure and functions to increase security, stability and usability
- Implement approved recommendations with detailed test, release and rollback plans
- Build and maintain a reporting catalog based on that ensures data quality and governance
- Assist in implementation of change controls with respect to customized code, tied into code repository
- Develop query, procedure, function and report revisions on approved change requests
- Prepare test data, plan and conduct feature testing through UAT cycles
- Research, recommend and deploy a suitable code version management repository to house all custom SQL and report based code, objects and related documentation
What you bring:
- A degree in information technology, systems engineering or a related specialized area
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a data management and report development capacity
- Proven strength in Microsoft SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SSRS and PowerBI environments
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL, MySQL, SSRS, PowerBI and Tableau
- Proficient with UI/UX design for dashboards and reports suited for consumption on web, desktop, mobile and distributable formats
- Proven strength in documentation and code/object repository management
- Experience with API integrations, ODATA and REST would be a strong asset
- Experience with other reporting systems, particularly related to SalesForce systems would be a strong asset
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing custom report object repositories with version and release management
