Primary Function
This position is responsible for various aspects of general accounting, analysis and reporting, along with reconciling various balance sheet accounts. This role is based in Grainger’s shared service office in Panama Pacifico. Ensure journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis and reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Daily or monthly reconciliation of bank statements and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Daily posting and balancing of bank activity for A/R, A/P accounts, payroll and investment accounts, and completion of associated monthly reconciliations.
  • Daily postings of deposits, wire transfers, and credit card activity.
  • Prepare various general accounting journal entries and reconciliations related to assets and liabilities, that may include prepaids, accruals, and various intercompany accounts, among others.
  • Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual financial close activities, financial reporting, analysis, audit activities and tax filings are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure that Company financial policies, procedures and controls are followed.
  • Take appropriate steps to safeguard all assets and ensure that all financial books and records are maintained in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that financial controls and processes are adequate to ensure the effectiveness of the internal control environment.
  • Evaluate continuous improvement opportunities and implement initiatives as needed to streamline and enhance processes and reduce costs.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with all internal and external business partners.
  • Willing to accept new and additional challenges as business needs change.
  • Any other assignment by the Manager.

Education and Experience

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish
  • CPA or equivalent required
  • MBA degree would be a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting, internal Audit or related large corporate accounting/finance experience required
  • Strong knowledge about the following is required: US GAAP, cost accounting, payroll accounting and accounting for various operating expenses.
  • Ability to work with multi-currency and multi-cultural businesses.
  • Multinational company experience preferred.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to recognize and explain unusial trends.
  • Problem-solving and risk assessment skills to assess issues and develop action plans
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – must be confident presenting to senior management
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Must be able to shift focus easily and draw conclusions timely as business needs arise
  • Agility and adherenceto deadlines specially during monthly and quarterly closes
  • SAP experience highly desired
  • Ability to travel to the US if required
