Description:

A company in the Antelope Valley is looking for Senior Accountant with an extensive background in government accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing a wide range of accounting responsibilities, with a focus on government financial operations, regulations, and practices. He/She will work closely with the finance team and ensure the company’s compliance with all state and federally mandated guidelines, protocols, and laws.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. CPA or advanced degree desired.
Minimum 5 years of experience in government accounting or a relevant field.
In-depth knowledge of government accounting standards, regulations, and laws.
Strong command over accounting software and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities:

Review and prepare financial statements and accounting reports for departmental and senior managers.
Assist in the budget forecasting and planning process for government contracts/projects.
Analyze financial data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Develop and maintain effective internal controls to assure safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements.
Participate in audits and special reports for government agencies as required.
Research and interpret complex government regulations, laws, and guidelines.
Ensure company compliance with financial standards, policies, and regulations.
Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects.
Manage, conduct, and oversee internal audits and ensure compliance of audit requirements.
Review, reconcile, and process payroll records for staff while ensuring compliance with IRS and other tax regulations.
Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes
