Description:
Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for a strong Sr. Accountant to support our international transportation client on a 3–4-month hybrid engagement in the South Bay area with possibility for extension beginning immediately. Under the direction and supervision of department manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing financial reports, providing detailed analysis of our financial results, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, various tax and government filings, preparing payroll entries, assisting with audit preparations, providing suggestions to improve processes in closing/financial reporting and internal controls, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Perform sales/cost analysis and reconciliation for assigned locations.
- Prepare journal entries for adjustments, amortization, budget accrual, etc.
- Perform account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts and prepare related journal entries
- Assist in preparation of monthly stand-alone financial statements (Balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement), and fluctuation analysis of income statement accounts (budget comparison and SMLY comparison) and balance sheet accounts
- Assist in in preparation of the quarterly reporting package for the parent company
- Assist in preparation of internal audit and JSOX requirements
- Assist in preparation of PBC for annual audit, responding to their questions, and reviewing audited financial statements
- Prepare and file various tax and government forms (excise tax, use tax, property tax, business license, census, etc)
- Assist with an upcoming system upgrade (SAP)
- Assist with accounting aspects of payroll, such as preparing journal entries, annual reconciliation of payroll registers to the GL at year-end and maintaining accurate accrued vacation balance.
- Answer inquiries from location managers about payroll matters
- Assist in maintenance of ASC 842 lease and fixed assets schedule
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets
- Assist in preparation of information requested by tax accountant for income tax filings. Prepare quarterly estimated tax schedule and payment vouchers
- Assist in preparation of tax provision entries
- Ad hoc duties and responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of General Ledger.
- Experience with Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations.
- Knowledge of Journal Entries and Month End Close procedures.
- Experience with SAP software.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
- Experience in the logistics industry is a plus.
