Description:
This role can be fully remote if located in the following states: MN, FL, CA, VA, WI, IL, ID, NY, GA, MS.
We are in search of a diligent Sr. Accountant for our client located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. This role is within the non-profit industry and involves maintaining and improving financial processes, managing accounting systems, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting.
They are targeting 2-3+ years of experience either in non-profit in industry or someone coming from a CPA firm with non-profit clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, would consider an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a relevant field.
- Experience with Non-profit Accounting is ideal.
- Proficiency in Account Reconciliation and Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of General Ledger and General Ledger System.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel is a must.
- Familiarity with NetSuite and Oracle software is preferred.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work output.
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and ethics in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to mentor junior staff members
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate monthly and year-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, identifying and rectifying recurring discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute monthly departmental and company reports, resolving any issues raised by department leadership.
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain and update financial system allocations on a regular basis.
- Assist the Assistant Controller and Financial Analyst in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support grant budget creation and entry, assisting with reforecasting as needed.
- Perform audits to ensure transactions are allowable, coded and allocated accurately, and within the appropriate grant period.
- Review documentation and support annual financial and 401K audits as well as grant audits and monitorings.
- Utilize accounting software like Oracle, NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel to perform accounting functions in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and payroll.
