Description:
We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. The successful candidate will have a central role in our corporate accounting team, focusing on a portfolio of properties. The Sr. Accountant will have a range of responsibilities, from supporting the Controller and CFO in all aspects of Accounting to overseeing a team of accountants.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, time management skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. They should also have the ability to analyze financial statements and demonstrate a strong knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Prior experience with property management accounting and financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, and NetSuite is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accountant or in a similar role
- Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
- Skilled in the use of General Ledger and Journal Entries
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Month End Close processes
- Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP
- Knowledge of Property Management Accounting
- Excellent Time Management skills
- Ability to Analyze Financial Statements
- Strong Communication skills
- Must have a legal right to work in the location of employmen
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and entry of journal entries for month-end close, including accruals, depreciation, amortization, capitalization and true-up entries
- Finalize the financial statement preparation for a portfolio of properties
- Review and ensure accounts payable and receivable for reasonableness and accuracy
- Finalize rent rolls and submit monthly state taxes where applicable
- Analyze variances, review ledger details and record adjusted entries on assigned accounts
- Lead and oversee a team of accountants, acting as a reliable resource to accounting department co-workers and other company personnel
- Handle partnership accounting, including consolidation/elimination entries
- Assist in year-end audits and annual tax preparation work
- Communicate with investors on various financial matters and prepare calculations to support quarterly distributions
- Assist in other duties as needed
