Description:
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the not-for-profit industry, located in BIRMINGHAM, Alabama. This role is vital to the team and involves a variety of accounting tasks, from account reconciliation to maintaining general ledgers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular account reconciliation to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure the accuracy of entries into the general ledger.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel proficiently to perform various accounting tasks.
- Oversee month-end close processes.
- Review and verify financial documents and reports.
- Identify and rectify any discrepancies in the financial reports.
- Contribute to audit processes and cooperate with internal and external auditors.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial data and comply with relevant legal regulations.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Sr. Accountant or similar role
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Hands-on experience with Account Reconciliation and Bank Reconciliations
- Proficient in conducting Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Knowledge of General Ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes
- Ability to perform Journal Entries accurately
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
