The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurological Surgery is currently seeking a full time Sr. Administrative Officer to work in Miami, FL. The Sr. Administrative Officer (SAO), Neurological Surgery (H) serves as the administrative leader and senior management advisor to the Chair and or other senior leadership within the UHealth system. The SAO of Neurological Surgery generates, manages, and interprets strategic information; provides financial management and accountability for all Neurological Surgery Department resources; and provides the administrative infrastructure to ensure organizational and department goals are achieved and staff thrive. The SAO provides strategic leadership and direction for all financial and administrative functions including budgeting and financial management, strategic planning, human resources, research administration, academic affairs, facilities/space, compliance, and safety. This position leads the department operations, establishes the administration’s organizational structure and environment, and has oversight for administrative policies and procedures in the department.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated senior-level leadership knowledge, skill, experience, and abilities leading teams across the multiple missions to develop needed process pathways and data systems, while cultivating strong partnerships and relationships and working cooperatively with people of diverse racial, cultural and ethnic identities, styles, beliefs, and functional responsibilities.
- Must be able to articulate complex financial concepts and strategies in a clear and persuasive manner, effectively communicating the financial implications of decisions to diverse audiences, as well as possess a broad understanding of information technology hardware and software infrastructure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTITUDES:
- Knowledge of business and management principles.
- Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships

EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in business administration, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a related field or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
7 years of professional, managerial work experience, preferably in an academic medical center.

- Must possess outstanding communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to work well with Faculty, Staff and Colleagues as well as members of external organizations.
- Exhibits commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.
- Proven ability to motivate, engage faculty, staff and support every aspect of the chair’s vision for the department.
- Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures.
