Position Information

JOB SUMMARY/BASIC FUNCTION

Working with alumni, parents, and friends to facilitate their engagement with the college and to find a match between their philanthropic interests and Dickinson’s fundraising priorities, the position expectations include conducting a minimum of 140 personal visits annually with major gift prospects, maintaining records for donor interactions in the Blackbaud CRM system, and meeting measurable goals for major gift proposal activity. The position is focused on developing relationships, learning about potential donor passions and interests, and planning steps that will allow them to fulfill their philanthropic goals with Dickinson. Also, this position works with prior major and planned giving donors to Dickinson to continue to steward them, deepen the relationship, and increase their support over time. In addition to major gift work, this senior level gift officer position will facilitate special efforts as approved around viable affinity areas of interest to donors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred: Master’s degree or additional fundraising certification
Valid Driver’s License Required.
5-8 years work experience

Responsibilities:

  • Solicit gifts of $100,000 or more from alumni, parents and friends.
  • Manage the philanthropic relationship of alumni, parents, and friends who reside in assigned regions, that includes, but is not limited to their identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Manage a portfolio of 125-145 prospects, performing all administrative work essential to keeping information current in the database (prioritizing prospects, writing strategies, completing reports, etc.)
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the major gift team and the broader College Advancement staff to fulfill the identified goals of the department. These activities could include, but are not limited to, staffing events, supporting other gift officers in their identification, cultivation and solicitation of donors, and soliciting gifts for the Dickinson Fund.
    Extensive travel is required, and nontraditional work hours may be necessary. In addition, it is expected that the person in this position will attend in-person, on-campus events including Commencement, Alumni Weekend, and Homecoming & Family Weekend, among other events.
