The Role
We are seeking a Technical Strategist within our Global Professional Services organization based in Montreal, CA. Primary responsibility is to provide technical leadership to the local engineering staff and lead in delivery services to our key customers served by our Canada office. In this role, you will will technically lead and mentor other engineers in delivering complex designs provide the technical expertise and engineering leadership to meet customer requirements. This is a unique position for an exceptional Engineer to work on project implementation, working closely with customers using our suite of supply chain solutions and the Engineer’s extensive knowledge of the electric utility industry-specific process. The Technical Strategist Engineer will execute project work from start to finish and travel to customer locations as needed.

Your Impact

  • Lead in daily operations and activities of the technical staff in AsptenTech DGM Montrol office engineering team.
  • Ability to effectively be the technical lead in projects, leading and coaching jr consultants.
  • Lead Design, integration, testing, and commissioning activities for complex and strategic projects.
  • Oversee technical evaluation of contract specifications and define project requirements.
  • Be confident, capable, and ability to play a proactive role, a leading role on projects. Demonstrate collaboration with AspenTech Project Manager, involving technical to non-technical aspects of the project.
  • Formulating business processes to support the systems based on industry best practices.
  • Working with clients to implement the systems.
  • Communicate detailed requirements to internal departments as needed.
  • Lead staff in creating project and product documentation as needed.
  • Work directly with customers and remote engineering team members to understand requirements and communicate project plans.
  • Consult on system modeling to ensure the effective use and maintenance of a customer’s system applications.
  • Participation in commercial proposal development and testing of software upgrades.
  • Commissioning the completed systems, which may require on-site monitoring and analysis.
  • Provide training as needed to a customer or facilitate formal training classes.

What You’ll Need

  • 20+ years of work or graduate programs experience implementing SCADA systems in the electric utility industry.
  • Detailed practical understanding of energy management systems, including operation, control, and optimization.
  • Ability to travel (25% travel on a calendar basis).
  • Ability and flexibility to travel to domestic and international customer sites.
  • Ability to multi-task on several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical programming Python, C++ background is a plus
  • Experience with systems integration
  • Excellent customer relations, communication, and presentation skills
  • Appreciate complexity and relish troubleshooting and solving problems for AspenTech customers
  • Must have demonstrated 8 years of technical leadership capabilities in previous roles
  • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
