Job Description
Northern Trust Corporation is a leading financial institution servicing wealth management and institutional clients around the globe. Northern Trust’s Strategic Finance & Productivity Office drives a key strategic initiative for the enterprise through establishing and evolving governance, providing ongoing oversight and measuring resource usage and spend in order to optimize productivity across the firm.
As a member of the team, the senior analyst will partner with Northern Trust’s business units in the prioritization and financial management of technology capital initiatives. The partner will act as a financial advisor to the business unit assessing the financial health, performance execution and benefit realization of a portfolio of projects.
In addition, the senior analyst will have the opportunity to collaborate in the modernization and redesign of expenditure governance, management and reporting.
Responsibilities
Report monthly actual results and forecast to Portfolio Investment Council, providing an explanation of variances relative to forecast and plan, respectively
Actively participate in Portfolio Investment Council providing insights into the financial performance of the portfolio
Portfolio appropriation requests, ensuring information provided is accurate and complete and in alignment with approvals set forth by the Portfolio Investment Council
Actively participate in the modernization of the function including providing feedback on automation and leading specific efforts, as needed
Provide guidance to portfolio managers in their preparation of the monthly forecast and submission of appropriation requests
Qualifications
Experience in a financial planning and analysis role understanding drivers of variance of forecast relative to plan
Working knowledge of capital projects drivers and accounting treatment
Experience with change management and modernization
Experience developing forecast models and challenging forecast results prepared by others
Experience interpreting historical financial performance in relation to forecast
Ability to manage large data sets and synthetize results for executive management
Experience with Microsoft tools, including Excel and PowerBI
Experience with Clarity PPM
