What You’ll Be Doing
The Contract Support Group supports CIBC’s Procurement Organization in the negotiation of its third party service provider contracts mitigating risk to CIBC. As a Senior Contracts Specialist, you will, using CIBC’s Supplier Risk Management framework, draft contracts, attend negotiation sessions and provide advisory support to the Procurement Organization and internal CIBC business partners on supplier contracts. You will be expected to manage a large number of deals with competing priorities and be able to communicate status on your workload with the Procurement Org team members that you are supporting.

How You’ll Succeed
- Relationship Building- You will respond to assigned requests, providing professional high quality customer service for the assigned portfolio to ensure deal delivery and risk mitigation. You will liaise and interact with procurement and internal business partners, internal risk stakeholders and external supplier partners as part of the daily management of your portfolio
- Strong Drafting Skills - You have the ability to take concepts and put them into clear, concise contract terms and conditions. In drafting and reviewing contract terms and conditions, you will ensure that CIBC’s risks are mitigated while meeting business needs to get the deal done
- Attention to Detail – Accuracy is important to you and you focus on the details and getting things right
- Influencing and Negotiations – Be a strong influencer and negotiator with the ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders. Manage contract drafting, negotiations and finalization, approval processes. Comply with CIBC’s Procurement and Supplier Governance policies and process. Act like an owner by taking accountability for client issues and know when to collaborate with others to build a better solution together
- Manage Multiple Priorities - Use effective self-management practices to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
Who You Are
- You have 10+ years of experience drafting various contracts such as SaaS, Consulting and other Services Agreements. You have a deep understanding of key legal terms and conditions such as Limitation of Liability, Indemnities and Ownership clauses. You have strong negotiation skills and are able to find solutions that satisfy both parties. You are well versed in Microsoft Office Suite
- It’s an asset if you have current accreditation and good standing as a legal professional (i.e. lawyer, law clerk or paralegal) and experience in a Regulatory Environment.
