Description:

We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Cost Accountant in Akron, Ohio. This role is within the industry of Cost Accounting and requires proficiency in SAP. The professional we seek will play a pivotal role in managing product costing, standard costing, overheads, and bill of materials (BOM).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyze product costing processes to ensure accurate representation of costs.
  • Oversee and maintain standard costing systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis.
  • Handle the computation, distribution, and analysis of overhead costs.
  • Utilize SAP for efficient and accurate cost accounting and reporting.
  • Implement and manage the BOM to ensure accurate product costing.
  • Regularly review and update the BOM to reflect changes in product design or substances used.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure the accuracy of cost data.
  • Analyze cost records and data to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Develop and implement cost standards for materials and labor.
  • Prepare cost forecasts for new products and services.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Cost Accounting is required
  • Proficiency in SAP software is mandatory
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are required
  • Must possess strong ethical standards and a high level of integrity.
