We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and credible senior security leader for the role of Sr Director of Customer Security Officers to lead a team of world-class Customer Security Officers. As a trusted advisor to the customer Chief information security officer (CISO) and board, you will be the face of our company’s security initiatives and solutions, responsible for cultivating solid relationships primarily with customer CISOs. Your primary role involves understanding their short- and long-term security needs and providing expert guidance to enhance their security posture. The Sr Director of Customer Security Officers will be part of the security extended leadership team and provide advice on the security business while also ensuring senior leader enablement. They will play an active role in building out the account strategy, building trust with CISOs to drive successful strategic pursuits. They will actively engage in industry forums, providing deep insights on security, privacy and regulatory requirements and positioning Microsoft as the Security leader.
The Sr Director of Customer Security Officers role involves leading a Time-Zone-based team, it will involve up to 50% U.S. travel, with some global travel occasionally.
Successful candidates will work closely cross-functionally with our customer account teams, the service delivery teams, public sector and industry teams, legal and corporate affairs, product engineering, Microsoft Security Partners, and the Digital Crimes Unit to deliver on key business priorities, goals, and objectives.
As a proven security leader, you will support your team in achieving and exceedingly quarterly and yearly targets that deliver end-to-end thought leadership and transformational customer outcomes. You will enable and empower your team to enable each of the Business Units leaders in Security, to assess and consult with Customers CISO’s and to drive and design strategic deals throughout the accounts the CSO’s reporting to you will have.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 8+ years as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
  • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related field AND 6+ years as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of direct responsibility for developing security strategies for global companies and/or governments and overseeing the implementation and execution of security strategies.
  • 4+ years people management experience (including leading virtual teams).

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery, or related experience
  • o OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of direct responsibility for developing security strategies for global companies and/or governments and overseeing the implementation and execution of security strategies.
  • 8+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, Security industry standards, and/or technology management.
  • 5+ years people management experience (including leading virtual teams). This includes leading, mentoring, and developing the team, as well as managing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the team meets its objectives and deliverables. The ideal candidate should also have a proven track record of successfully managing a diverse team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Experience and passion for learning; implementing and sharing best practices with others
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.
  • A credible and compelling security executive and trusted advisor to C-level executives. They should have a proven ability to build and sustain relationships with external stakeholders in a strategic manner.
  • Broad information security competency, covering Identity and Access Management, Security Operations (SOC), network security, SDL, key management, hardware security modules, security architecture and design, operations security, legal/risk/compliance, and physical security.
  • Deep and broad knowledge of security issues & trends. You should be able to articulate the high-level Microsoft security strategy to both technical & non-technical audiences.
  • Experienced and credible communicator who can cast security in the language of the business. Should be comfortable discussing and presenting Microsoft’s security strategy with CISO & other C-level executives and senior government representatives and navigating complex and high-pressure sales scenarios.

Technology Specialists M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $154,500 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $199,600 - $299,400 per year.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will need to balance the technical aspects of security with the human elements, ensuring that your team is not only effective but also feels supported and valued. Your leadership will be key in driving the success of our security initiatives and the growth of our team.

As the Sr Director of Customer Security Officers, you will be responsible for leading a team of security professionals who are tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Team Alignment: Create alignments and partnerships across your team and related teams.

  • Executive presence & influence: Own relationships with technology executives – CISO/CIO/CTO and members of their office and influencing business decisions to accelerate and influence decision making and project evolution both internally and externally.
