Description:
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- The role holder is responsible for development of instrument and electrical aspects of the plant improvement programme, specification of works for major asset improvement / refurbishment projects and plant turnarounds.
- They shall provide technical expertise to the local Maintenance, Operations, Projects and EHSS teams for topics such as functional safety, ATEX, reliability improvement, asset life planning, management of change and support to projects, maintenance and turnarounds.
- Evaluates and defines projects, supports process improvements, completes root cause analysis and develops action plans, assesses options based on risk and financial criteria, performs design and engineering tasks and coordinates own activities with other engineers and operating groups on production / maintenance / process planning and improvement activities, programs and projects.
- Support junior engineers and placement students in their development as responsible engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Candidates should be a degree-qualified (or equivalent) Chartered Engineer and have 10+ years of experience of engineering or maintenance activities on a COMAH-registered plant, with experience of acting as decision-maker and technical authority. FSEng and COMPEX qualification is an advantage.
- They should be familiar with relevant asset types including: instrumentation, analysers, control and emergency valves, relay-based or programmable shutdown systems, switch-boards, transformers, motors, batteries and power supplies.
- Experience of major projects and commissioning is preferred, in addition to management of ageing plant, including awareness of obsolescence and age-related deterioration mechanisms is desirable.
- Prior awareness of procedures covering Management of Change, Functional Safety (IEC 61511), Electricity at Work (LV and HV), ATEX and reliability techniques (e.g. FMEA, RCA, RCM) would be an advantage.
- Candidates must demonstrate strong concern for EHSS standards and behaviours in all they do. Able to work autonomously, with a proven ability to influence groups and individuals at all levels of the Organisation.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
