Role Number:200561945
Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committed to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that encourages the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you’ll do more than join something - you’ll add something. Apple is looking for a Sr. Equipment (EQ) Design Engineer to join our Panel Process and Optics (PPO) Engineering team. The role is responsible for working with process engineers in crafting, developing, and fabricating prototype equipments to develop and validate new process architectures and tackle sophisticated product design challenges. The candidate will work internally with our process teams and with outside equipment manufacturers to build fully automated novel equipment from the concept/architecture stage through mass production (MP), with a focus on back-end display module integration. We are looking for an individual in this role that will serve as a focal point of equipment design innovation, enabling scalable processes and achieving novel product designs, with outstanding Apple product qualities. We work at a fast pace and require everyone to be highly self-motivated. A successful candidate needs to be a flexible problem solver and be able to determine solutions outside of their core technical expertise areas.

  • Experience developing new MP EQs, defining new EQ specifications, and leading EQ DFM reviews with vendors
  • Experience in leading a project from lab scale development to mass volume production
  • Understanding of failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem-solving for process and EQ
  • Familiarity with data handling and analysis, documentation (e.g. spec definition)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in related field with experience in related industry
  • Hands-on development of display module processes and EQ such as lamination, bonding, thermal-forming, dispensing, etc.
