REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven abilities in developing and administering benefits and leave programs, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements, benefit and leave legislation, and regulations such as DOL, IRS, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and ERISA, and other federal and state laws
  • High level of integrity and professionalism with ability to manage confidentiality of information
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with vendors, managers, colleagues, and employees at all levels
  • Excellent planning, time management, attention to detail, decision-making, analytical, communication, presentation, organization, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including excellent Excel experience with experience providing and summarizing data and using formulas
  • Knowledge of HR and payroll systems and ability to identify requirements needed for payroll deductions and annual enrollment

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Human Resources, Business, or other related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ relevant work experience, including strong professional benefits experience with design and compliance for health and welfare and retirement plans; leave administration experience
  • Or, equivalent military experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years’ professional and complex benefits/HR experience, including leading complex projects; HR business partner and/or generalist experience
  • Benefits management experience
  • Self-insured experience preferred
  • UKG/UltiPro system administration experience

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and administers employee benefits and leave programs and policies, including group health, dental, vision, life insurance, accident, and disability, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and wellness benefits, flexible spending accounts, supplemental benefits, and other benefits programs
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement and takes an active role in change efforts
  • Develops and implements communication to ensure effective promotion and understanding of benefit offerings and changes
  • Leads annual enrollment process
  • Resolves benefits-related issues and responds to employee queries in a timely manner
  • Ensures enrollments/changes/terminations in benefits plans are processed and maintained accurately; works with vendors and team to resolve any issues
  • Maintains benefits polices, practices, guidelines, and documentation in compliance with federal and state legislation
  • Oversees audits and maintains a calendar of all compliance requirements
  • Ensures accurate and timely distribution of required reports and notifications
  • Responsible for the preparation of government filings such as Form 5500, Form 1095/1094, Summary Annual Reports, Non-Discrimination testing, and other required filings
  • Manages vendor relationships for retirement plan administration, health and welfare and others to ensure services are delivered in accordance with executed agreements
  • Administers leaves of absence (LOA), including FMLA, short-term salary continuation, and long-term disability
  • Ensures leave programs and policies are compliant with the applicable federal and state employment laws
  • Collaborates with HR Information System team for system testing, data integrity, interface mapping, and related benefit system capabilities
  • Fosters collaborative working relationships; acts a business partner and may assist managers and employees with initial requests and engage HR team members to advise and resolve issues
  • Collects and analyzes data/trends to develop solutions in support of various HR programs and policies
  • Leads employee well-being programming, planning and communication efforts; partners with ERGs on health and wellness events and activities
