You will lead the recruitment and retention strategy across high-growth business areas like Operations, Management, and Construction while developing and implementing innovative initiatives to attract and retain top talent while ensuring a seamless experience for candidates and hiring managers, partnering with key business leaders to understand current and future talent needs and driving innovation in the recruitment process.
KH Properties has been looking out for the families under our care for 23 years in the Multifamily Apartment Community space. As Owner / Operator / Renovators we breathe life back into communities that provide workforce housing throughout the Midwest and Southeastern US. Headquartered in Kansas City, we own and manage over 2,400 units and are ramping up into a faster growth phase. We currently have 70+ full time employees at our 9 apartment communities.
KH Properties is looking for a self-driven HR Manager responsible for leading the planning, execution and administration of talent management systems, processes, and programs such as recruiting, hiring and firing, performance management, succession planning, talent review, employee engagement, and recognition.
Reporting to the CEO, your focus will be on providing an exceptional candidate experience, regularly evaluating recruitment and retention functions by analyzing metrics to identify opportunities for improvement, and proposing actionable solutions for optimization.
Uncover and engage top talent using social media, job boards, networking events, and partnerships.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty, AIRS, Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR) or other recognized sourcing certifications are a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have 5+ years of talent acquisition experience with a strong focus on sourcing, and screening.
  • Experience with ADP Total Source, specifically with their Payroll, Time & Attendance, Benefits, Recruitment, onboarding and performance reviews.
  • Experience with Culture Index and Traction (EOS) are a plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong internet sourcing capabilities using Boolean searches, LinkedIn, GitHub, social media, and other platforms to locate top talent.
  • Knowledge of AI-based sourcing tools and recruitment technologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) with experience in reporting and analytics.

Recruiting and Interviewing Skills:

  • Deep expertise in behavioral-based interviewing and selection best practices to ensure the right cultural and technical fit.
  • Current knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, with an understanding of HR and compensation practices.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Innovative Sourcing: Uncover and engage top talent using traditional methods as well as social media, job boards, networking events, and partnerships.
Talent Strategy Development: Partner with hiring managers to identify immediate and long-term staffing needs, and tailor recruitment strategies to meet department and company goals.
Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage the entire recruitment process, from initial candidate sourcing to offer negotiation and onboarding, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
Candidate Experience: Ensure a superior candidate journey by focusing on transparency, communication, and a high level of personalized service throughout the hiring process.
Recruitment Metrics: Regularly analyze recruitment data to assess performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose actionable solutions for continuous improvement.
Diversity and Inclusion: Drive initiatives to foster a diverse pipeline of talent and promote inclusive hiring practices across all stages of the recruitment process.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with leadership teams to align recruitment strategies with organizational goals. Mentor and coach junior team members on sourcing and recruitment best practices.
Retention Initiatives: Collaborate on post-hire engagement and retention programs, ensuring smooth onboarding and long-term success for new hires and employees

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • You will work closely with leadership to scale and develop a hiring strategy and plan, implementing tactical skills to ensure we source and hire the most talented. Must demonstrate supportive leadership skills to establish yourself as a trusted people partner. You will play a critical role in developing our talent acquisition strategy and developing our employment brand while providing an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Lead the development and execution of the Company’s sourcing strategy
  • Develop tools and processes to identify and acquire talent to meet the current and future business needs
  • Advise and consult with key leaders to ensure that the company’s business objectives are linked with internal and external talent management objectives and Workforce Planning strategy
  • Manage and refine a Candidate Experience Strategy that improves the application process, provides more insight into the company and ensures a positive and consistent candidate experience across locations
  • Manage and refine an effective Social Recruiting Strategy
  • Further elevate and manage the company’s Talent Acquisition Branding Strategy
  • Utilize a Talent Pipeline that proactively engages talent related to future business needs
  • Manage and oversee the job requisition process, job postings both internal and external, and applicant flow
  • Understand organizations workforce needs then develop and implement talent acquisition strategies to attract skilled talent and diverse candidates across all levels of the company
  • Drive the adoption of consistent recruiting, interviewing and hiring practices while fostering strong business partnership and external candidate relationships
  • Track ongoing hiring needs and manage end-to-end recruitment functions
  • Generating official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary slips and warning letters
  • Creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations
  • Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits and attendance records
  • Evaluating employee performance and appraising their pay scale accordingly
  • Taking appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
  • Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
  • Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
  • Create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keeps the strategy up to date
  • Identify, Investigate, and Mediate employee issues and conflicts and brings them to resolution
  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Maintain company organization charts and employee directory
