Reporting to the Global Development Legal Director, and based in Melbourne, we are looking for a Sr Legal Counsel.
The selected professional will be responsible for leading our legal operations, focusing on contracts and compliance in the solar energy sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Legal Support: Provide legal advice to management and other departments to capture emerging opportunities and construction of projects in each of the following phases: development, construction, operation and acquisition of new projects. Manage and supervise outside counsel within budgetary constraints; review and approve outside counsel invoices
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts related to solar energy projects and batteries, including lease and purchase agreements, EPCs O&M, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and service contracts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Australian laws and regulations applicable to renewable energy projects, including environmental, planning, and energy market regulations.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and advise on legal risks associated with project development, construction and operations, proposing mitigation strategies to manage such risks effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal teams, external counsel and other stakeholders to facilitate project development and address legal issues.
  • Compliance with internal policies: Ensure all legal operations adhere to internal policies and procedures, promoting a culture of compliance within the organization.
  • Corporate: Manage the corporate activities of the Australian companies (keeping and updating books and records, supervising the incorporation of companies, preparing and implementing power of attorneys, and organizing the role of directors/officers of project & special purpose companies).
  • Litigation: Assist with respect to management of litigation and other dispute resolution processes
