ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for an energetic and talented individual to join our growing team as a Senior Manager, Accounting for our EMEA entities in seven different countries. In this role, you will help drive the “engine” of finance and accounting including the close cadence, enhancements of systems and processes, and ensure effective policy and control. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and a “can do” attitude to drive results.
The role will be both demanding and rewarding with exposure to leadership and have a “seat at the table”. You will work across our international accounting teams to drive process optimization through a lean mindset and leveraging of technology and be ready to tackle projects that they didn’t wake up thinking they needed to address.
This role is an integral part of the global Accounting team, with four direct reports and leads a team of six people in total. You will report directly to the VP, Controller, based in the US and collaborate with leaders across the organization.
This role will be based in Wind River’s Munich, Germany office, with the option to frequently work from home, providing a flexible work arrangement that aligns with the team’s remote work culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience of related Accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent with a solid knowledge of US GAAP, general ledger structure, and financial statements.
  • A thorough understanding of consolidation reporting and foreign currency translations and remeasurement.
  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task, and work independently, and execute objectives without supervision.
  • Modern process and tools thinking, specifically working to implement, integrate, and improve on accounting and financial technology and processes. Advanced Excel and data management skills are critical.
  • Energetic, hands-on, and resourceful self-starter who can partner with all levels and functions of the company with a consultative and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrates a sense of urgency and should be results-driven.
  • Ability to manage and develop a diverse accounting team in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to connect and collaborate effectively with a diverse set of peers and stakeholders; constructive and solution-oriented mindset. Fluent in both German and English.
  • Significant attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Oracle R12 experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, own and drive financial statement close process (monthly/quarterly/annual) enabling accurate and timely close and accounting under US GAAP, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Quarterly review of Balance sheet and Income Statement for EMEA.
  • Working closely with our teams of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and accounting for accruals, taxes, inter-company transactions, and other key expense areas.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management’s discussion for each of our EMEA entities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with international teams to standardize and improve the International Accounting process design, including US GAAP requirements, local reporting requirements as well as SOX initiatives.
  • Identify areas of improvement in policies and procedures to provide assurance of the accuracy of financial reports. Work with others to identity, optimize and automate accounting processes driving efficient and streamlined close process.
  • Work with outsourced providers on ERP system design, implementation, and enhancement special projects as requested, particularly related to the implementation of new processes and accounting policies.
