The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $122,699 to $176,380

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Programs and Compliance will report to the Avangrid Renewables Senior Director of EHS. This position will manage environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance within the Avangrid Renewables onshore and offshore organization. The Senior Manager will develop, implement, and maintain policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, as well as promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the organization.
This position will be a key member of the EHS Renewables team responsible for assessing, designing, and driving the implementation as well as continuous improvement of EHS programs across Avangrid.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Health & Safety, Engineering, Public Health, or Environmental Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of ten years (10) relevant Environmental, Health & Safety experience AND five (5) years of people leadership experience
  • Exceptional knowledge and understanding of pertinent federal, state and local regulatory codes including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT.
  • Experience developing environmental health and safety programs and providing strategic direction for compliance programs.
  • Knowledge & experience in environmental health & safety programs and processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software/tools.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated project/program management skills, including highly developed skills for defining and prioritizing product/project features.
  • Ability to understand and implement EHS regulations for renewable energy/utility industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with data systems including, but not limited to SAP, GIS, and SAI360.
  • Ability to operate and positively influence at all levels in the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to devise practical solutions to complex and risk-based problems or challenges.
  • Demonstrated track record of moving projects from concept to evaluation phase rapidly.
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Able to analyze complex information, distill salient items and create appropriate action plans. Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Capable of using interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the company, as well as outside consultants/contractors.
  • Project management experience that include creating and monitoring plans, preparing estimates, reporting status, identifying, and resolving issues.
  • Willingness to obtain further certifications and ongoing education.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and collaborate with internal and external industry professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to travel domestically routinely, up to 50% as well as occasional international travel.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in a global organization balancing collaboration and coordination between global and local initiatives, best practices, and recommendations.
  • Professional certification in EHS (e.g., graduate safety professional (GSP), associate safety professional (ASP), certified safety professional (CSP), registered environmental professional (REP) or similar) preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of project management preferred.
  • F//////////////all protection and NFPA 70D experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices for onshore and offshore business and operational needs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to EHS training and compliance staff, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other stakeholders to stay informed of regulatory developments, emerging trends, and best practices.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, permits, and other documentation required by environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Champion a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility by promoting awareness, engagement, and accountability at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, human resources, and legal, to integrate EHS and compliance considerations into business processes and decision-making.
  • Conduct organization/systems/process reviews, assessments, for continuous improvement of EHS programs.
  • Conceptualize and execute the strategic initiatives, collaborating across the EHS team and the business to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Collaborate with Onshore and Offshore Operations & Maintenance, Projects, Development, Support Groups, and other internal EHS professionals to conduct assessments, document actions, drive improvement, develop corrective actions, and resolve identified deficiencies.
  • Remain current on trends and innovations related to employee experience, continuous improvement, and organizational performance.
  • Ability to achieve/maintain professional credentialing of trainers, training facilities, curriculum, and management systems through ISO, American Clean Power, Global Wind Organisation, or similar organization.
  • Create environmental health and safety training plans for Avangrid Renewables to meet regulatory requirements, certification, and business and operational needs.
  • Ability to assume a system emergency role and, in the event of an emergency, support, as needed.
  • Occasional travel is required.
