DIVISION/GROUP SUMMARY:
At the Microbiology Division (MBD), our primary goal is to support Thermo Fisher’s Mission by advancing human healthcare. By fostering purposeful innovation, we strive to empower clinicians with enhanced diagnostic capabilities and enable laboratories to make informed decisions, ultimately leading to improved care and timely responses throughout every step of an individual’s healthcare journey. We highly value equivalent experience, in addition to the educational requirements, such as MBD or relevant experience, which are considered acceptable.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Sr Manager, Finance Global Operations at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of the finance function within a renowned organization. In this role, you will collaborate with the VP. Global Quality for MBD to drive the transformation of the QA & QC Global organization by implementing effective practices and delivering improvement strategies. Additionally, you will work closely with the Sr. Director of MBD’s Global Supply Chain to optimize global inventory across the network.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
In addition to the above qualifications, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:
- Strong analytical and data gathering skills. Attention to detail and consistently delivering high quality work
- Prior experience in Manufacturing highly desirable.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and tight time demands
- Excellent skills with MS Excel are required; Oracle, HFM/CMR, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) are preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team building skills and the shown ability to work with a diverse group of people even if geographically dispersed
- Self-motivated, higher level of flexibility and strong work ethic with the goal to get the job done
- Continuous Improvement approach: Identify process and control gaps and champion improvement initiatives through Practical Process Improvement (PPI)

Responsibilities:
Effective Project Management, Data Analysis, and Operational Enhancement:
- Drive the shift to reviewing Gross Margin vs Operational Spending at the site level, improving financial understanding.
- Implement efficient tracking mechanisms for PPI, Leakage, Sourcing Savings, and overall Net Productivity to drive cost savings.
- Establish a robust product costing system to aid profitability analysis and planning efficiency.
- Use data analytics to present cost action recommendations for course corrections.
- Achieve successful prioritization and ensure positive returns on investments necessary for critical operations strategies and initiatives.
