JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager, Payroll - Global Payroll Operations at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional in the field. In this role, you will have daily oversight of 20+ payroll associates and the core end-to-end payroll process. Your role will involve collaborating with business partners, key vendors, tax authorities, and unions to ensure flawless and timely payroll execution.
You will be the go-to subject matter authority regarding payroll capabilities, team & vendor performance, and service delivery model supporting the Regional Payroll Director as needed to optimize operations and GBS values. Possessing evolved technical and customer service skills, this role identifies trends which turn into actionable improvements, identifies, and addresses training needs of the team, mentors/coach’s employees on tactical processing areas of opportunity and tracks performance to defined service level agreements. Creating a stable, standardized, consistent and pleasing operating environment is essential to ensure GBS meets and exceeds customer and leadership expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of payroll experience and a minimum of 5 years leading a payroll team with HR/Finance/IT experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Management of shared services preferred.
  • PPI Associate within a year of hire, to build a culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Fluent in English (speak & write).
  • Advanced Microsoft skills (Excel, PPT, etc.).
  • In-country Payroll Certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day activities of the region Payroll Delivery Center/s, performing the payroll process for employees.
  • Assist in developing the Managed Service environment, including resource requirements, policies, procedures, and planning.
  • Engage with internal customers - work closely with business unit customers on a regular basis.
  • Review performance indicators and handle customer concerns.
  • Actively communicate changes to policy/standards and manage vendor relationships.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with data privacy and retention of records.
  • Stay up-to-date with country legislation and compliance standards.
  • Drive performance management and proactive communication within the team and leadership.
  • Build knowledge within the team, develop associates, and support career-pathing.
