JOB DESCRIPTION
How will you make an impact?
As the Sr. Manager, Procurement/Sourcing at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have the unique opportunity to lead and develop a team of procurement professionals, ensuring a flawless global supply of materials and services for our Grand Island, NY site. Your primary objective will be to manage the acquisition of inbound materials and services, while balancing product availability and driving productivity to improve the organization’s profitability!
What will you do?
- Create effective supplier relationships focused on quality, supply assurance, innovation and cost.
- Manage the performance of team members, providing guidance, support, and conducting employee evaluations. Set goals and motivate individuals to achieve desired outcomes.
- Lead and enable the Purchasing team to achieve strategic objectives.
- Implement inventory control programs, such as Pay at Consumption and Just-In-Time, to achieve cash flow objectives without compromising material availability.
- Develop and lead formalized risk mitigation programs to reduce vulnerability to supply chain interruptions.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on Total Cost of Ownership models.
- Drive global projects that align business processes and tools across the network.
- Present procurement strategies, processes, and policies to internal and external customers.
- Stay informed about regulatory and market requirements and their impacts on the supply chain.
- Effectively implement change with little to no disruption to the team or work streams.
- Cultivate a positive culture that encourages collaboration and teamwork while driving meaningful transformation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
- 8-10 years experience in Procurement or Supply Chain.
- 8+ years experience in a leadership position.
- APICS, CPSM, or equivalent certification a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems, placing, approving, and managing purchase orders.
- Program or project management and/or formal process improvement experience preferred.

- Technical knowledge of life sciences manufacturing preferred.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Suite and reporting tools is highly desirable.
- Experience operating in Oracle/JDE E1 MRP systems a plus.
