Overview:
The Sr. Manager, Sales Engineering will work closely with sales management, technical leadership, and other executive personnel within Alteryx to drive revenue by ensuring that the team is well-prepared to offer pre-sales services, influencing the development of solutions, and helping to define pre- and post-sales programs and services to ensure customer success. This individual will work closely with their management team to ensure pre-sales engagements are appropriately resourced and optimized for producing a software license and work with partners relative to services offerings. This individual must have experience working closely with sales leadership to ensure that there is complete alignment between Alteryx’s pre-sales and sales strategies. Channel experience is also nice to have as Alteryx enjoys a highly leveraged partner network with which the SE team works closely.
What you will do:
- Build and coach a high-performing pre-sales team. You will always act as a recruiter to match our company growth and be a leader of leaders
- Lead performance management initiatives and act as a mentor to develop your direct reports
- Be an advocate for all Alteryx methodologies including Great Demo
- Collaborate with sales, management, customer and support staff for maximum effectiveness
- Keep abreast of competition, competitive issues, and products.
- Drive customer success, sales methodology and sales success in support of exceptional quarterly and annual sales achievement.
- Design and refine organizational structure to support field goals
- Primary technical advisor to numerous VP’s of Sales across the organization(s)
- Frequent meetings with Customers and Partners; ability to effectively sell Alteryx’s unique value proposition.
- Work closely with the marketing and products organizations to establishing process and procedures to ensure that the SE organization contributes to best-practices and competitive and solution information.
- Continuous improvement of programs and processes.
What we are looking for:
- 7+ years management experience with proven success building & managing a world-class technical pre-sales organization, preferably with Alteryx or a major software company.
- Channel go-to-market experience and someone who works also well with the entire partner and reseller community.
- Proficiency in SaaS Cloud platforms and positioning of a hybrid software platform portfolio to a variety of customer business and technical requirements.
- Experience managing remote/field employees
- Broad knowledge of data visualization, data management and analytic platforms. Experience should include broad range of disciplines including value-based selling, cost-benefit analysis and ROI analysis, process and project management, and familiarity with challenger sales methodology
- Proficiency in SQL, Alteryx, Python, or similar product or syntax
- Ability to balance a high-volume transactional business and a traditional sales model.
- Ability to facilitate effective collaborative team meetings and experience managing a dispersed team
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and possess strong leadership abilities.
- Strong executive presentation skills with the ability to address both executive and technical level audiences.
- Proven collaborator and liaison with all levels and departments within an organization.
- Ability to travel as required
