Description:

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Scaffolding and Suspended Access Industry Experienced REQUIRED
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a design engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with CAD software and file management systems (SolidWorks/PDM, Creo/Windchill, etc.). SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, mechanics of materials, and machine design.
  • Blueprint reading and basic GD&T knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, assembly) is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, marketing, customers) to understand design requirements and translate them into manufacturable solutions.
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Conduct stress, deflection, and other analyses to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory specifications.
  • Develop and document detailed engineering drawings, including parts bills of materials and assembly instructions.
  • Prepare and maintain product documentation, including customer cut-sheets, reference drawings, installation and operating manuals, and calculations to support equipment designs.
  • Participate in the development and testing of prototypes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to identify potential production challenges and recommend design improvements for cost reduction and manufacturability.
  • Support quality staff with investigation of product/equipment for out of specification conditions, assembly/use difficulties and/or failures to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations for improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to product design and quality.
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and manufacturing processes.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
