Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior Network Engineer performs a broad variety of technical engineering and support. This will include, design, monitoring, and managing of Lionsgate networked infrastructure and systems. The Senior Engineer will develop and implement standards, policies and procedures, and works as a liaison with contractors and vendors to ensure the integrity and security of the networked infrastructure. The Senior Engineer will serve as a mentor for jr. staff engineers and must be able to work independently to come up with network designs as well as guide implementations. The Senior Engineer will perform maintenance, and upgrades of networked devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, wireless LAN controllers, and network management systems. The Senior Engineer will monitor network connectivity and ensure high quality data transmissions, provide technical support to various departments and users with regards to LAN/WAN/Security/Wireless and cloud-based networks. The Senior Engineer will manage day-to-day issues and will maintain the enterprise service level standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 7+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer in a complex multi-platform, multi-protocol environment
- In-depth knowledge and experience of the following: EIGRP, MPLS, NAC, VPN, remote access servers, security devices, firewalls, security protocols, IDS / IPS, NAT/PAT, Cisco ISE, AAA, Radius/LDAP/TACACS, wireless.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with diverse skill sets and personalities, provide strong team leadership, and work effectively as a team player.
- Experience and knowledge of IEEE 802.11 wireless standards and cisco wireless controllers
- Experience with selection and strategic direction of network and security technologies and architecture
- Expertise in all aspects of LAN and WAN operation, routing, topology, QoS, Multicast, network protocols, and MetroEthernet.
- Experience in using network protocol analyzers and sniffers such as WireShark, Fluke tools and the ability to decipher packet capture
- CCNA required, CCNP or CCIE (Preferred) certification or equivalent experience
Responsibilities:
- Perform Tier II and Tier III network troubleshooting including reviews of capacity, utilization, and configuration changes
- Monitor and manage all networked devices
- Participating in weekly on-call rotation
- Monitor network performance using tools like LogicMonitor and Catalyst Center
- Participate in regular operations review meetings, including operational issues, tickets review etc
- Contribute to long term network design strategies, roadmaps, core architecture, developing standards and using best practice guidelines
- Identify potential network issues, or risks and develop mitigation plans
- Install network devices such as Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and access points (must be able to lift equipment (50-70 lbs.)
- Install and remove network equipment at our remote offices and remote data centers (decommission legacy equipment and replace); must lift 50-70 lbs.; including travel to data centers in other states
- New office rollouts be onsite to survey, install and cable all network and VoIP equipment
- Project planning including defining tasks for rolling out new circuit provisioning (schedule test and turn up; configuration; test and validate, etc.)
- Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality across the organization
- Perform security review of networked Infrastructure and Applications
- Support highly available, geographically diverse environment including the necessary processes and communications
- Perform Tier II and Tier III troubleshooting across Data, Voice, and UCC environments, including reviews of capacity, utilization, and configuration changes
- Provide technical expertise in implementations of voice network infrastructure including Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity, Voice gateway, and SIP implementation/migration
