Description:

Your challenges:

  • Lead and participate in the technological evolution of traction inverters by proposing new electronic configurations and optimizing the use of expensive components.
  • Lead and/or participate in the design of the architecture of a traction inverter prototype, or other electronic product, including the sizing of the main components.
  • Design isolated and non-isolated power converters, digital and analog electronic circuits, power transistor control circuits, and printed circuits.
  • Lead the various stages of an Advanced Engineering project, including identifying objectives and risks, planning activities, designing, procuring and manufacturing prototypes, experimental validation, documentation, and sharing results.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (Electromagnetism, Electronics, Software, Mechanics) to achieve objectives and solve problems.
  • Lead or support tests in the laboratory and test room.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of the state of the art internally and externally to propose informed adjustments to Advanced Engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners at Dana, including specialized companies, national laboratories, or universities, locally and internationally.
  • Supervise and support the work of technicians and assemblers when required.
  • Lead and participate in risk and failure mode analyses.
  • Contribute to establishing, maintaining, and improving processes.
  • Lead or participate in design reviews of Advanced Engineering projects involving members of product development groups.
  • Participate in design reviews of product development groups.
  • Integrate ISO26262 functional safety and electromagnetic compatibility principles into the design

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

As a Senior Power Electronics Designer, you will join the Advanced Engineering team, integrated into the engineering department responsible for the development of traction motors and high-voltage electronic products for electric vehicles. You will contribute to the mission of the Advanced Engineering team to mature new technologies and innovations, allowing the developed motors and electronic products to stand out.

Your strengths:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (PhD is an asset).
  • Mastery of power transistor technologies including GaN and SiC.
  • Mastery of power electronics.
  • Good knowledge of power electronics packaging and cooling.
  • Good aptitude for generating and presenting intellectual property elements.
  • Interest and aptitude for developing and using multidisciplinary, theoretical, and practical skills to achieve results.
  • Sensitivity to the protection of intellectual property.
  • Project management skills: Assess technical risks and workload, build and maintain a schedule and budget, communicate unforeseen events, and plan mitigation strategies.
  • Curiosity, resourcefulness, autonomy, and result-oriented decision-making.
  • Humility, resilience, and open-mindedness to criticism and ideas.
  • Asset: experience in the automotive industry.
  • Asset: Knowledge of Altium Designer software.
