Description:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr Property Accountant to join our team in SOUTHFIELD, Michigan. This role involves managing financial operations within our real estate and property management industry. As a Sr Property Accountant, you will be expected to handle financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations among other duties.

Responsibilities

  • Handle financial reporting tasks including fee-based and partnership allocations.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger on a regular basis.
  • Ensure accurate month and year-end close operations.
  • Prepare and process journal entries as needed.
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting activities for the real estate portfolio.
  • Assist in the development of rent rolls in collaboration with property managers.
  • Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Provide information and support questions for the successful preparation of all necessary tax returns

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Property Accountant or in a similar role in accounting
  • Proven experience in Account Reconciliation
  • Proficiency in preparing Cash Flow Forecasts
  • Familiarity with General Ledger operations
  • Ability to Analyze Financial Statements effectively
  • Experience in handling financial matters for Multiple Entities
  • Proficiency in preparing Financial Statements
  • Experience in creating and managing Operational Budgets
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Knowledge of property management software would be an advantage
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations relating to property accounting
