Description:
Established in 1998, The Johns Hopkins Center for Tuberculosis Research (CTR) is engaged in clinical studies and clinical trials of novel anti-tuberculosis treatments in domestic and international settings. Funded by NIAID and embedded within the Center for TB Research, the JHU Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center (JHU TRAC) is dedicated to developing the next generation of scientific leaders in TB research through mentoring and training opportunities and by providing pilot funding to early-stage investigators and those new to TB research. The JHU TRAC provides shared research support for resources, services, and training dedicated to TB and seeks to strengthen TB clinical research through international collaborations.
The JHU TRAC & SMART4TB are seeking a Sr. Research Assistant who will work under the direction of the CTR Director, TRAC Principal Investigators, and TRAC Program Manager to support and coordinate the research aims of the JHU TRAC in addition to related international and domestic CTR clinical research activities. With a primary focus of supporting the JHU TRAC activities, the Sr. Research Assistant’s portfolio will also include support for studies within the SMART4TB Consortium which include complex TB and HIV clinical research studies being implemented in partnership with academic institutions at each study site.
The Sr. Research Assistant will coordinate administrative activities for the JHU TRAC and related CTR programs. The following functions are included in the scope of work: work in close collaboration with the Principal Investigator(s), TRAC Program Manager, and TRAC Core Directors to provide administrative and program management support; partner with TRAC faculty to manage the non-financial aspects of pre-and post-award administration; facilitate communications and projects of TRAC faculty with multi-institutional collaborations, domestic and international; support logistical efforts to expand TB programs, including weekly, quarterly, and annual meetings, workshops, and symposia for TRAC and Inter-TRAC partnerships.; develop project management plans and timelines with key milestones and standard operating procedures; serve as primary contact and work closely with various TB-related working groups and research teams to implement best practices for activities outlined in specific aims.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
- Two years of related experience.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, reference managers, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MPH or MS in a relevant field.
- Experience conducting health-related research
- Proficiency in REDCap and WordPress.
- Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles.

Responsibilities:
- Support leadership in planning including scoping projects, defining deliverables, and developing work plans.
- Facilitate meetings in support of advancing project progress, including scheduling of meetings, note-taking, and follow-up of action items
- Assist in the writing and compilation of metrics and materials for the annual progress report and grant applications.
- Compile information for, format, and produce reports, graphs, tables, and presentations using software including Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word, and EndNote
- Responsible for the overall planning and execution of major events and meetings including special events planning.
- Facilitate the coordination of meeting spaces, menus, logistics, lodging, and travel arrangements for participants. Manage advertisement and promotion of events.
- Collate and maintain existing grant development resources including recorded workshops and written guidance. Organize resources into an online resource that will be accessible to JHU investigators.
- Develop and maintain a database of ongoing and recent JHU TB research studies.
- Develop and update TRAC’s website, manage the publication of e-newsletters, and produce written materials for TRAC communications. Organize and implement social media postings.
- Develop a variety of research-related materials, including study briefs, progress reports, event descriptions, and email communications. Contribute to the research team in preparing abstracts and presentations related to research projects.
- Track abstract and publication progress and submissions in a JHU TRAC database, ensuring NIH Public Access Compliance including facilitating post-publication grant citations for TB-related research.
- Perform other related functions, as assigned.
General Research Support for JHU TRAC & SMART4TB Associated Studies
- Collaborate with Program Officers and staff to support program planning, implementation, and monitoring across all phases of the project period.
- Maintain internal and external Institute communications and assist in building and managing partnerships.
- Manage and track resources, identify resource needs, and act as liaison between staff, PI, subcontractors, and other administrators.
- Provide protocol development, study implementation, and research dissemination support to complex clinical studies, maintaining a good working knowledge of all assigned projects.
- Review, edit, and finalize study-related documents (protocols, case report forms, study SOPs) in collaboration with PIs and study teams.
- Conduct literature reviews, draft data tables, and conduct scientific writing/editing to support research dissemination. Format abstracts/manuscripts and submit them to conferences/journals.
- Assist in developing effective visualizations, posters, and presentations for scientific conferences and donor reporting.
- Assist research teams in performing/coordinating quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Prioritize building effective working relationships with US and international team members and collaborators in service of common goals.
