ABOUT THE POSITION:
E Ink’s Research and Development department is seeking a talented Sr. Scientist to join our dynamic Shim development team in our Fremont, CA office. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions for our cutting-edge ePaper products, aligning with our mission of “We Make Surfaces Smarter”. This role leads research and development initiatives focused on Shim fabrication, optimizing coatings and lithographic processes within a roll-to-roll production framework.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS/Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred, with a minimum of 5-year experience in photolithography.
- Strong “Hands-On” experience with demonstrated capability to lead independently a project and a “think out of the box” mentality to overcome difficult challenges.
- Experience with Photoresist coating other than spin-coating (such as spray coating, deep coating…) is highly desirable.
- Experience with unconventional lithography (non-stepper mode) is a plus.
- Industry experience is advantageous, but a strong academic background and relevant research experience are also considered.

Responsibilities:
- Identify photoresists, characterize, and optimize coating processes adapted to shim fabrication.
- Implement innovative solutions to achieve (Photo)lithographic processes on unconventional surfaces.
- Utilize lab scale experiments and techniques to demonstrate feasibility while ensuring scalability.
- Collaborate within and across teams to achieve targets, from proof of concept to full scale manufacturing.
- Champion defect analysis efforts, identifying root causes and implementing innovative solutions to enhance coating uniformity and minimize imperfections, particularly on challenging substrates.
- Remain at the forefront of coating technology advancements and lithography processes, actively contributing to the organization’s culture of innovation and excellence.
