Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our team as a Sr Site Specialist- Small Molecules Scale Up Lab Support. Located in Cambridge, MA, you will be part of our Unity Lab Services team, focusing on service delivery excellence. Your role will involve the following:

Job-Specific Duties:

  • Maintain Inventory, Stocking/Organizing, Cleaning and Storage
  • Handle Incoming/Outgoing Shipments of Tools, Ancillary Processing Equipment and Consumables to Remote Site
  • Update compound and material inventory for projects in development
  • Maintain non-GMP chemical storage
  • Maintain SUL equipment inventory and consumable inventory
  • Install, Maintain and Troubleshoot Equipment and Instruments
  • Install Operational Verification (IOV)
  • Evaluate Performance and Reliability of New Equipment
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate with Vendors for Maintenance/Calibration
  • Coordinate scheduled PM’s and calibrations
  • Conduct periodically scheduled reaction vessel cleaning
  • Keep track of equipment calibration schedule and facility maintenance
  • Maintain operation of lab equipment including Mydax, high vacuum pumps, etc.
  • Order broken or missing parts as needed
  • Move reaction vessels inside SUL hoods for cleaning as scheduled
  • Serve as Facilities and Metrology contact for the lab

You will also support documentation of the following:

Documentation Support:

  • Equipment EUR’s
  • Documentation of Real-Time Execution and Verification of Processing Steps in the Batch Sheet Instructions
  • Archival of Temp/Humidity Monitoring Charts and of Nitrogen COAs
  • Archival of performed IOV’s
  • Daily Checklist for High Hazard Materials Requirement and Verification of Room Cleaning Logs

Furthermore, you will assist with processing Campaign preparations. This includes:

Campaign Support:

  • Project Specific Set Up and Functionality Test of Portable Processing Equipment
  • Inerting, Grounding and Bonding of Equipment
  • Ordering, receiving and quarantine raw materials
  • Sample raw materials for release and use testing
  • Move, assemble and prepare reactor and processing train equipment
  • Assist process chemist with campaign
  • Charge Starting Materials, Reagents, and Solvents into Reactors
  • Ensure Processing Parameters Meet Ranges Specified in Batch Sheet

This role requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, a Bachelor’s of Science degree preffered in Chemical Engineering. Equivalent experience will be taken into consideration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service abilities and a strong problem-solving approach. Proficiency in computer applications like Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a must. Moreover, possessing strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused attitude will be greatly appreciated.
