What to Expect
Tesla’s Cell Manufacturing Electrode Vision team is looking for a highly motivated individual to technical program manage vision systems projects. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. You will interface with Factory Design, Construction, Product Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Engineering, and Operations to drive development and deployment plans for manufacturing vision systems in our innovative electrode area.
You will be immersed in vision engineering projects from design through install, commissioning, ramp, and handover to production. You will use your engineering background to understand the product requirements, technical risks, and validation strategy to accelerate the development and deployment process. You will communicate and present project status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of a project slip.
You will be based out of Fremont, California with opportunity for some travel to other Tesla sites and vendors.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with cross-functional teams such as Factory Design, Construction, Product Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Engineering, Operations, and other supporting functions to scope out and drive projects for deployment of vision systems for cell electrode manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Work with external suppliers to develop comprehensive plans, outlining strategy, scope, schedule, risks, resource requirements, cost targets
  • Define and drive tasks to be performed by the multiple engineering disciplines. Inform prioritization of team project work based on schedule, risk, resources, and payback. Track status of projects and action items against the schedule
  • Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks
  • Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for projects to the Cell leadership team
  • Drive delivery of selected manufacturing project scope

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of experience working with design, development, installation, and ramping up of manufacturing systems, in a mix of engineering and project management roles
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects for mass-produced products
  • Experience in project management tools, including Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, and other agile project management methods
  • Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating scope and schedules
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours
  • Ability to identify issues and develop corrective measures to resolve
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills

Expected Compensation
$88,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
