Description:

Octavius is at the forefront of delivering rail renewals projects in the Southern Region through the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE). Our alliance contract is founded on Project 13 principles, aiming to deliver rail renewals more efficiently than ever before.
Role Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated Performance & Efficiency Manager to instigate, enable, track, and realise efficiencies across the Octavius Electrification & Plant Portfolio of work. This role focuses on innovation, continuous improvement, quality, and collaboration, with a particular emphasis on affordability and profitability. The successful candidate will act as an enabler and catalyst for improvements, deeply integrating with the team to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree educated (or equivalent qualification/relevant experience) and working towards Chartered status with a recognized and relevant Professional Body.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and facilitate workshops.
  • Multi-tasking across varying projects/workstreams.
  • Creating visually engaging presentations (PowerPoint).
  • Handling, interpreting, and manipulating data (Excel).

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of LEAN/Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Competence in data visualisation tools such as PowerBI.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • General knowledge of the construction industry and collaborative working models/contracts.
  • Thorough knowledge of working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience in leading innovation and continuous improvement projects/programmes.
  • Experience in line management and/or mentoring

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain effective working relationships with the Engineering and Innovation Director and the Performance and Efficiencies Lead.
  • Maximise the use of digital innovations across SID and harmonise with Octavius’ digital landscape (Project SPINE).
  • Maintain the Framework SharePoint landing page as a central hub of knowledge.
  • Coordinate and monitor performance.
  • Establish and facilitate a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) / Design to Cost (D2C) process.
  • Work with strategic suppliers to identify new ways of working for greater efficiency.
  • Facilitate initiatives to solve specific challenges and convert opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain a knowledge management/lesson learnt process.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the SID vision to be a Learning Organisation.
  • Lead team engagement events to maintain a unified high-performing team.
